I looked at the shelf and saw my old, worn out can of corn. My eyes wandered over to the corner where I found a jar of pickles that had gone bad. I reached
I Need Help With My Coursework down and grabbed a package of noodles that had been in the back for months. As I held it up, I realized I forgot that I had a package of ramen noodles in there too. I thought about how much time it would take to finish all this food and that's when it hit me. It was time to go through my pantry and throw out the old stuff.

GI 35 (vs 100). Your kids are older, not so much of a problem I'm guessing. I also use it in peanut butter choccy cookies. It may compromise the growth of coconuts, but coconut sugar uses something like a fifth of the nutrients and space than cane sugar so I'm not too fussed! There's always something - best not to eat, I guess.Alison Sampsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04492848177186327971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27849118.post-82752415100091640472014-09-25T15:21:44.002-07:002014-09-25T15:21:44.002-07:00Glad to see you using your local public library! And while on the subject, I'd love to know from you how you organize/ hang onto ingredients that you don't use everyday, but surely will again....mostly ethnic cuisine ingredients specific to that cuisine, I would think. Chinese, Korean, Latino, Middle Eastern, etc. I buy the stuff, use it a bit, then my pantry is exploding. Also the dish I think I'm going to make, but plans change, and soon I forget what I planned in the first place. I love the idea of marketing daily, but you cannot do that easily unless one cooks very simply. Ingredients mount up! They multiply! And who doesn't need stuff that can be pulled out with a moment's notice to flesh out a meal? I suppose the answer is discipline? This could be an entire year's worth of blogging. Love you the most!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27849118.post-9441160898066518662014-09-23T20:55:13.863-07:002014-09-23T20:55:13.863-07:00A friend gave me a bag of the granulated coconut s...A friend gave me a bag of the granulated coconut sugar last year. It certainly has a distinct flavor and texture; it's almost chewy. It's just enough not-like brown sugar to really throw me off. And then the whole "killing coconut trees" thing ... I give up. (I've also thrown up my hands in the fish market, I have NO IDEA what I'm allowed to eat any more.)Leenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27849118.post-87510857787348196342014-09-23T18:27:44.380-07:002014-09-23T18:27:44.380-07:00Man, I looked away for a second and you posted twi...Man, I looked away for a second and you posted twice! I hope the mites are truly behind you now. When making grape sorbet/sherbet, have you ever tried using malic acid instead of citric acid? I bought some online and have been using it for tartness in non-citrus desserts and confections, like apple pie (if the apples aren't tart enough) or jelly candies. But then again, that would mean you'd have three bottles of fruit acids in your pantry. You have made me want to go clean out my pantry, not least because I've been seeing moths lately, and I can't have that.Kristinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18007176695182072056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27849118.post-19912654091904907082014-09-23T18:16:06.164-07:002014-09-23T18:16:06.164-07:00Hi Pat, Yes, chickens are still with us. I still haven't managed to replace the hoja santa, but I've got some amazing figs growing this year.tipsybakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13796856700365644779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27849118.post-542659596725031642014-09-23T18:14:33.112-07:002014-09-23T18:14:33.112-07:00Thanks, Meeghan! Thanks, Meeghan!tipsybakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13796856700365644779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27849118.post-49023893956101184012014-09-23T10:15:55.438-07:002014-09-23T10:15:55.438-07:00Brings back memories of that stuffed pantry!! BTW I love Bon Appetit again but just found out the editor moved to Saveur (another of my fav mags).
