The thing isn't slanted. It is ugly, and I do wish we could grow a better fence of greenery to hide it.Jennifer and Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01034986634575514195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27849118.post-49426718528819302492009-07-14T14:55:49.955-07:002009-07-14T14:55:49.955-07:00Brown rice was a staple!Brown rice was a staple!tipsybakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13796856700365644779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27849118.post-11614150063855074792009-07-14T14:46:00.548-07:002009-07-14T14:46:00.548-07:00Ooo, our Moms were on the same wavelength! Also, brown rice for white rice (which was very weird for a Chinese family). And my parents were in a cult. (But that's a different story!)Azurehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06476778039057168808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27849118.post-19600086476000128972009-07-14T11:59:21.568-07:002009-07-14T11:59:21.568-07:00Sobaka -- I have a hood with a veil, but I wear a ...Sobaka -- I have a hood with a veil, but I wear a heavy bathrobe as the suit. It's really hot in that robe, but the full body coverage makes me feel safe and therefore, calm, which the bees appreciate. I tried to channel Queen Latifah this last time I went in the hive -- Every little thing needs love. Or whatever it was she said in Secret Life of Bees. It actually kind of worked.

AzureSong -- You can substitute honey for sugar to some extent. My mother did it for years in the 1970s. She also eschewed chocolate in favor of carob. I wonder if honey can be substituted for sugar in baking. I'm thinking no, but I don't know why.Azurehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06476778039057168808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27849118.post-41996412059571269962009-07-14T09:19:02.408-07:002009-07-14T09:19:02.408-07:00Hmm, yes, bees in hair = not good.
