Pioneer Woman's food seems a lot like those cookbooks that church groups sell. They definitely have appeal, and I do love frosting on my cinnamon rolls. They're just sometimes foods.

Gold Laced Wyandottes are beautiful. It was interesting to read what are considered "comfort dishes" because it seems to be so cultural. Yet I understand the appeal of homey food in times of stress and sadness - Tyrolean and Austrian food (not quite the same, although Tyroleans are Austrians) does the same for me.... and we Tyroleans even use some vegetables (albeit a lot of butter too!)....
On an aside, I just got a tajine for my birthday. I know Ree hosted Bossy on her first roadtrip and Bossy was smitten, so I think she is as she seems, which is a lovely thing.
@Mary, above--thanks for the awesome cinnamon roll tips!Ooniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15162162953846737959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27849118.post-46680169992773488872010-04-17T17:13:46.121-07:002010-04-17T17:13:46.121-07:00I agree - there is a time and place for all kinds ...I agree - there is a time and place for all kinds of cooking and all kinds of taste bud preferences. A world of food with only iceberg lettuce for a green sounds dreadful. But so does a world of searching desperately for esoteric ingredients when there isn't time ......

As for the cinnamon rolls, I have made many cinnamon rolls in my lifetime. They are one of my favorites. And nothing beats a homemade cinnamon roll fresh from the oven. I am horrified that there is cup of oil in this version...not necessary. Otherwise the recipe looks like mine EXCEPT for the frosting. Cinnamon rolls don't need frosting. If you leave that off they are delicious and NOT too sweet. I know they put gobs of frosting on in the commercial places which make cinnamon rolls (Are they called Cinnabon?)...and the frosting overwhelms the other good flavors...... I may have to make a batch tomorrow...maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08681719574466222768noreply@blogger.com
